Description
The Technical Sales Manager leads Chemicaland's technical-commercial strategy across Flowers, Fruits, and Export Vegetables. The role blends agronomy expertise, product knowledge, and commercial execution to drive product adoption, deliver data-driven market insights, oversee field trials, and support distributors and sales teams.
This is a technical-first, sales-enabled leadership role — responsible for building Chemicaland’s technical reputation in Kenya while directly contributing to revenue through technical demand creation.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical-commercial implementation across assigned crop segments
- Conduct farmer trainings, field days, seminars
- Develop and manage field trials & demonstration plots
- Produce weekly technical reports and market intelligence
- Support distributors with technical materials
- Train internal sales teams
- Provide technical backup during sales meetings
- Develop crop nutrition programs
- Build product adoption and brand credibility
- Contribute to revenue targets via technical conversions
Qualifications
BSc in Horticulture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Nutrition, Soil Science or related
Added advantage: MSc in Agronomy or Plant Nutrition.
Minimum 5–7 years experience in: plant nutrition and foliar fertilizers, fertigation programs, high-value horticulture segments, field trials, demos, data logging, technical market development
28–42 years preferred
Expert agronomy & plant nutrition knowledge
Field trial design, execution & interpretation
Strong commercial orientation
Distributor & grower support experience
Excellent reporting discipline
Demonstrated leadership
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Good negotiation & presentation skills
