Background

Our client in the energy sector is seeking a technically competent and detail-oriented Technical Support Engineer to support transformer design, renewable energy systems integration, and field technical operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of power systems, transformer principles, and renewable energy technologies, with hands-on experience in engineering design tools and power room environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support research and design of power and distribution transformers (ratings, losses, insulation systems).
  • Prepare and review technical specifications and compliance documentation.
  • Interpret and generate electrical schematics and layouts aligned with project standards.
  • Prepare and update technical drawings, datasheets, manuals, and as-built documentation.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and revision controls.
  • Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ETAP, MATLAB or equivalent for design and analysis.
  • Perform electrical load calculations and system simulations.
  • Provide support during production, installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • Assist troubleshooting in power rooms and field installations.
  • Support design, sizing, and integration of: Solar PV systems, Inverters and battery systems and Smart meters and hybrid energy systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience (strong fresh graduates may be considered for junior roles).
  • Experience working in power rooms is mandatory.
  • EBK registration or professional certification is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of transformers and power systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent documentation and reporting ability.
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and project teams.
