Our Kenya Machinery department is seeking a Technician - Kitale to join our team, reporting to the Branch Manager/Service Manager.

Responsibilities or duties

In this position, you will:

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and repairs on tractors and mechanical systems, troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues both in the field and the workshop.
  • Execute technical overhauls including engine rebuilds, transmission repairs, and brake or hydraulic system fixes according to OEM standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication, while ensuring all routine services follow manufacturer guidelines.
  • Manage pre-delivery inspections and the assembly of new units to ensure equipment readiness.
  • Ensure quality assurance by testing repaired equipment for proper functionality and safety compliance while meticulously documenting all maintenance performed.
  • Provide professional customer service by communicating repair needs to clients, offering equipment care recommendations, and advising supervisors on maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain workshop safety and compliance by adhering to occupational health and safety regulations and keeping a clean, organized work environment.
  • Oversee tool management and reporting by ensuring diagnostic equipment is properly maintained and keeping accurate service records and part usage logs.
  • Deliver technical support and training to operators and colleagues, and complete warranty or product improvement work as per OEM instructions.
  • Participate in continuous learning through mandatory OEM and company training sessions to stay updated on agricultural machinery functionality.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

About you

To be successful in this role you would need:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience specifically in agricultural or heavy machinery servicing.
  • Education: A minimum technical diploma or certification in mechanical/automotive engineering or a related field.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical aptitude with specific knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.
  • Operational Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and OEM instructions accurately.
  • Soft Skills: Good communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Logistics: A valid driver’s license is preferred.
