Temporary Accounts Assistant at World Vision Kenya

The Role:

Supports the Accounts Department on day-to-day tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting, Analysis and Accountability

  • Process advances and reimbursement requests from Concur and prepare cheques / Online payments with supporting documentation and submit for review and subsequent payment.
  • Upload journals on Power Apps for posting by shared services
  • Perform Generate payments (GP) function in Sun systems for non-Provision payments e.g. statutory payments

Risk Management & Internal Control

  • Assist in bank reconciliations and GL reconciliations by 10th of every month.

Record Keeping

  • Scan and upload transaction journals (CVs, JVs, DVs) on the resource center (BOX) as required monthly to ensure easy accessibility.
  • Keep records of documents filed or removed using a tracking tool and Perform periodic inspections of documents or files in to ensure correct placement, legibility and proper condition.
  • Find and retrieve information from files in response to requests from authorized internal and external users and keep records of documents filed or removed using a tracking tool.

Balance Sheet Analysis and Account Allocation

  • Analysis and Account Allocation of Advance Accounts 150 monthly.
  • Account Allocation of current statutory payments in a/c 230 monthly.

Educational and Experience Required

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance Qualification
  • At least 1 years’ experience in financial accounting
  • Computer literacy – MS Word, Ms. Excel, Power point, Ms. Access, Internet and networking. Knowledge in systems such as Sun Sytems will be an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of computer packages, Smart Executive database
  • Able to handle confidential matters and a high degree of professional integrity.
  • Able to work in a cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to communicate, well organized
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of statutory regulations and labor relations.
