Background

Responsibilities
- Oversee maintenance, servicing, and repair of all school vehicles to ensure safety and reliability.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for the entire fleet.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and coordinate timely repairs.
- Maintain accurate vehicle records including service history, fuel usage, and repairs.
- Supervise drivers, including attendance, performance, discipline, and compliance with policies.
- Ensure all drivers have valid licenses and adhere to road safety and transport regulations.
- Monitor daily vehicle checks and ensure all vehicles are roadworthy before use.
- Liaise with external garages, insurers, and service providers where necessary.
- Investigate accidents/incidents and ensure proper reporting (NERs).
- Promote safe driving practices, fuel efficiency, and proper vehicle handling.
- Advise management on cost-effective repair versus replacement decisions
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Transport Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance and fleet management.
- Proven experience in diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repair of light and commercial vehicles.
- Valid driving license.
- Experience supervising drivers or transport operations.
