In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end transportation operations that drive efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability across mainline, regional, and last-mile distribution networks.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of the company’s transport business, including mainlines, branch lines, and city distribution
- Develop shipping plans aligned with production schedules to ensure On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) delivery
- Optimize transport routes to increase vehicle utilization and load efficiency
- Manage transport anomalies (delays, breakage, loss) with prompt resolution and corrective actions
Cost Control & Optimization
- Monitor key transportation cost metrics (cost per ton, per vehicle, per unit)
- Lead cost-reduction initiatives, including carpooling, backhauling, and multimodal transport
- Participate in tariff negotiation, RFQs, and competitive bidding to ensure cost efficiency
Carrier & Fleet Management
- Onboard, evaluate, and grade carriers using ABC classification
- Establish and track KPIs including punctuality, breakage, and complaint rates
- Conduct regular carrier performance reviews and ensure adequate capacity during peak seasons
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate transportation requirements with production, warehousing, sales, and other departments
- Support logistics security for sales peaks, promotional events, and large-scale projects
- Participate in end-to-end supply chain optimization initiatives
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage transportation teams, including dispatchers and operations specialists
- Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and drive accountability
- Deliver training programs to enhance professional competence and operational execution
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Transportation Engineering (preferred)
- Certifications in Supply Chain, Transport Management, or Lean Logistics are a plus
Skills & Competencies
- Transport planning and route optimization
- Cost monitoring, control, and negotiation
- Carrier/fleet management and KPI tracking
- Cross-functional coordination and supply chain integration
- Team leadership, training, and performance management
- ERP / TMS software proficiency (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
Other Relevant Information
- Experience managing both local and international logistics operations
- Strong problem-solving skills for handling delays, damages, and other transport anomalies
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, customs, and cross-border transportation
- Ability to manage operations under high-pressure environments and ensure service reliability during peak periods
