Detailed Description
Principal Accountabilities (KEY Performance areas): Accountability (Responsibility)
• Embrace, ensure and maintain a positive safety culture, a healthy and secure management of the turnaround process through complying with company procedures, processes, regulatory authorities and requirements of customer airlines.
• Co-ordinate and direct all suppliers and departments engaged in the turnaround process.
• Manage any disruptions to turnaround activities in liaison with the HCC.
• Ensure that processes are delivered according to Company standards or Customer Airline agreed SLAs.
• Monitor sequence activity against agreed station turnaround plan and timings.
• Act as the key liaison or as a central point of contact with all stakeholders (HCC, crew, Ground services etc ) on all issues arising while supervising the overall turnaround activity and inhibit deviation from agreed turnaround plan.
• Raise casual operator’s billing forms to ensure billing for services rendered detailing usage and time of all GSE and other resources/services provided.
• Monitor quick transfer of short connecting baggage to avoid misconnections.
• Identify and report hazards, near-misses, incidents and accidents within the turn-around process.
• Ascertain all aspects of aircraft preparation in readiness for offloading/loading as per standard operating procedures.
• Ensure compliance between loading instructions and load presented for loading whilst strictly adhering to the instructions unless authorized to deviate.
• Provide leadership and direct supervision staff who are undertaking all loading and equipment operations activities associated with turnaround to ensure conformity with all Standard Operating Procedures.
• Champion ramp safety by effectively enforcing ramp standard operating procedures to reduce ramp incidents and accidents ensuring healthy, safe and secure working environment.
• Act as a safety coordinator by maintaining safe and secure processes for the duration of the turnaround.
• Ensure on time and proper completion of offloading and loading of cargo and baggage for efficient delivery for both Kenya Airways and customer airlines.  Report torn, leaking and oversize packaging and defective ULD’s before loading and when offloading.
• Ensure ULDs are properly secured with ULD hold floor locks and bulk loads correctly with nets and approved tie downs complying to correct lashing / load spreading.
• Ensure that special loads, including Dangerous Goods are stowed according to regulations and Carrier operating procedures.
• Upon completion of loading, communicate the final loading to the Load controller.
• Ensure correct baggage reconciliation procedures are met and documentation completed before aircraft departure.
• Optimize maximumly all the allocated resources and tools of work
• and maintain constant ground to cockpit communication in a clear and precise manner (if authorized and when required to do so)
• Identify and report hazards, near misses, incidents and accident within the turnaround process.
• Adhere to KQ WAY principals and best practices.

Job Requirements
Knowledge and Experience Qualification (Minimum)
• Relevant University Degree with 3 years’ experience in Ground Operations Or
• Relevant Diploma with over 6 years’ experience in Ground Operations Additional Qualifications
• Knowledge of Load Control and Weight & Balance.
• Aircraft Turn Around coordination training
• Aircraft Handling & Loading
• Dangerous Goods CAT 8
• Excellent knowledge of KQ products.
• Airside Safety Awareness
• Airside driving training
• Aircraft Ground Movement
• Aviation Security Awareness
• Safety Management System (SMS) Awareness
• Basic Passenger Handling
• Supervisory Skills training
• Management of ULDs
• JKIA Local emergency procedures Years of Experience (Minimum)
• At least 3 years’ experience in Ground Operations.
