Background

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a UICAP Mapping Technician to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain utility maps, schematics, and one-line diagrams to reflect existing conditions or changes from As-Built drawings within 10 calendar days of notification or discovery.
  • Ensure all revised maps include revision dates, maintaining compliance with government requirements and established documentation standards.
  • Maintain utility maps in the same format as provided by the government and ensure the continuity of deliverables.
  • Utilize NAVFAC ArcGIS software to prepare, develop, and update utility system maps in GIS format, ensuring data adheres to the Data Collection Guide (DCG) and is the authoritative database for utility mapping.
  • Export utility system AutoCAD drawings from GIS datasets while ensuring proper formatting and usability.
  • Maintain and manage features using the latest NAVFAC NDM version.
  • Ensure GIS data quality aligns with NAVFAC and NSF DG Utilities Department standards, coordinating requirements effectively.
  • Provide updated utility system maps, schematic drawings, and one-line diagrams upon request with immediate turnaround to meet operational needs.
  • Submit utility system maps, schematics, drawings, and other relevant documentation to the Technical Library in compliance with Section F.
  • Coordinate mapping requirements with the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Diego Garcia Utilities Department to ensure accuracy and alignment with project guidelines.
  • Perform consistent quality assurance and control on GIS data and utility maps to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with government standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience working with GIS mapping, utility mapping, or related technical drafting functions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with NAVFAC ArcGIS software, AutoCAD, and related GIS mapping tools.
  • Demonstrated expertise in updating maps, schematics, and diagrams to reflect As-Built changes and existing conditions.
  • Strong understanding of GIS data management practices and standards, including adherence to Data Collection Guide (DCG) requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience working with utility system mapping and schematics.
  • Detailed-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in GIS mapping and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other data management software.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English for both verbal and written communication.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
  • Valid country driver’s license and passport.
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with NAVFAC GIS, AutoCAD, and NDM software versions, including map exports.
  • Prior experience coordinating GIS and mapping requirements with a Utilities Department or working in a military or government environment.
  • Familiarity with NAVFAC standards for utility mapping and diagram submission.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment.
