Role Purpose:
Responsible for timely set-up, renewal, servicing and support, documentation, and management of schemes on ACTI sure, and handling related queries on from clients and intermediaries on existing schemes. Provide dedicated and comprehensive service to the intermediaries and clients with a proactive approach to ensure business retention of the schemes by meeting set service timelines while ensuring underwriting guidelines and controls are strictly adhered to and enforced.

i. Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, underwriting standards, and company policies, and adhere to ethical practices.
ii. Policy Review: Regularly review and update underwriting policies and guidelines to reflect industry changes and mitigate risks.

iv. Medical Risk Assessment – Strong ability to interpret medical reports, diagnose risk exposures, and determine suitable terms and exclusions.
v. Regulatory & Policy Compliance – Deep understanding of IRA guidelines, company policies, and reinsurance treaties.
vi. Systems & Data Proficiency – Skilled in using core insurance systems, Excel, and data analysis tools for underwriting and reporting.
Academic Qualifications
vii. Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Nursing, Health Sciences, or a related field.
viii. Progress towards or completion of a professional insurance qualification such as AIIK, ACII, or equivalent.
Relevant Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in medical underwriting within an insurance or health management environment.
Corporate Governance
i. Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, underwriting standards, and company policies, and adhere to ethical practices.
ii. Policy Review: Regularly review and update underwriting policies and guidelines to reflect industry changes and mitigate risks.
- Policy Onboarding: Ensure accurate membership set up, benefits set up, prompt issuance of acceptance letters, debiting and dispatch of premiums invoices and the renewal/commencement premium schedules to the client/intermediary.
- Policy Maintenance: Manage membership details in ACTI sure and ensure timely and accurate policy maintenance i.e., timely communication to intermediaries/clients/Relationship Managers, issuance of policy documents, timely dispatch of premium debits/credits, scheme reconciliations, reporting and ensure all agreed TATs are met.
- Liaise with other sections within the department to coordinate service delivery.
- Follow through the reports required by client/ intermediary within the expected TATs and SLA e.g. Claims analysis report, member statements, etc.
- Liaise with the product and business development teams to evaluate the products being sold and how they affect the underwriting process.
- Ensuring supportive relationship is maintained between the Medical Department and the other units of the business to achieve synergies and quality delivery of service.
- Supporting the development and delivery of the BD strategy.
