Role Objective
Our client, a reputable and fast-growing events company based in Nairobi, is seeking to recruit a reliable, disciplined, and experienced Truck/Van Driver to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of event equipment, materials, and supplies to various event venues while ensuring excellent vehicle care and supporting smooth event logistics.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate company trucks and vans while adhering to all traffic laws and road safety regulations.
- Transport event equipment, furniture, décor, tents, staging materials, and other company assets to and from event venues.
- Ensure timely deliveries and collections in line with event schedules.
- Assist in loading, securing, and unloading equipment to minimise damage during transit.
- Inspect and verify items before dispatch and upon return to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any mechanical faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain assigned vehicles in a clean, roadworthy, and well-maintained condition.
- Plan efficient delivery routes using GPS and navigation tools such as Google Maps.
- Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.
- Report accidents, breakdowns, delays, or operational challenges immediately.
- Support the operations team during event setup and breakdown whenever required.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
- KCSE Certificate (training in Transport, Logistics, or a related field will be an added advantage).
- Minimum of 5 years experience driving commercial trucks or delivery vans.
- Valid driving licence with the appropriate class for commercial truck/van operations and a clean driving record.
- Experience transporting goods, equipment, or event materials will be an added advantage.
- Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to identify minor vehicle issues.
- Good understanding of Kenyan road networks, traffic regulations, and defensive driving practices.
- NYS training will be an added advantage.
Key Competencies
- High level of integrity, reliability, and accountability.
- Excellent time management and punctuality.
- Strong organizational and route planning skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight event schedules.
- Physically fit and willing to assist with loading and unloading when required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
