Job Purpose

To lead the origination of Advisory and Capital Market solutions across multiple products areas in the country.

Represent and take ownership of the Advisory and Capital Market platforms and franchise in the region

Supervise the support functions.

Job Context

The incumbent will have:

The opportunity to work across a number of countries in Africa and the rest of the word to support the team, if need be, in the transactions in which Advisory and Capital Market acts as participant.

To provide close support to the Regional Head of IB in creating and maintaining strong relationships with high value customers to facilitate development of a strong pipeline of good quality

To establish a high degree of trust with clients during execution, and grow rapport with clients by demonstrating an understanding of their needs and being responsive

To understand Ecobank’s approach and policies for managing risks and applicable legal and regulatory rules.

To demonstrate leadership capabilities, including ability to organize and manage human resources from varied cultural backgrounds to attain goals.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identifying new Advisory and Capital Market opportunities within existing or new clients
  • Develop aggressively deal pipeline by working closely with the Coverage Teams.

Relationship Management

  • Responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with our Clients/ Sponsors and relevant official stakeholders (Government, regulators)
  • Responsible for maintaining good relationships with colleagues, especially the Coverage Managers in the Bank

Process and Reporting

  • Full compliance with Regulators, Authorities, and Ecobank Group respective policies.
  • Accuracy and timely submission of all reporting, financial data and statements.
  • Preparation of reporting and financial returns as required with the Finance Business partner.

People management and development

  • Provide support and coaching/training of all the staff in view of building capacity.
  • Motivate, Lead and develop the Advisory and Capital Market Team across the footprint to achieve consistent profitability through a clear process of target settings and appraisals.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum educational level is master’s degree in Economics/ Business Administration or related fields of study; fluent written & spoken French & English; proficiency in MS Office especially with excel skills
  • At least 8 years of experience with a track record in a client facing role
  • Ability to interact and negotiate with clients at the top level.
  • Knowledge of African markets or Industry background
  • Good understanding of credit
  • Sound business judgement to quickly assess opportunities and risks
