About Us

Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a faith-based health solutions provider founded by an ecumenical partnership of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). The Organization’s core mandate is providing access to quality health products and technologies through Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and Health Systems Strengthening services. MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients spread throughout Kenya, other regions in Africa and beyond.

Project Summary

MEDS is implementing the Dawa za Ubora Project, funded by the United States Government (USG) through the U.S. Department of State (DoS) under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and other Global Health Programs, running until June 2028. Under this mandate, MEDS provides efficient, reliable, and accountable supply chain management services for the warehousing and distribution of health commodities across all 47 counties in Kenya, supporting the prevention, treatment and management of communicable diseases and other health priorities.

About the Role

The Warehouse Assistant (Consultant) for the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) Emergency Response Initiative under Dawa za Ubora provides hands on operational and technical support to ensure rapid, secure, and fully compliant handling of emergency medical commodities.

Given the high-risk nature of EVD contingencies, this short-term role focuses on maintaining tight inventory control, cold chain integrity, and strict safety protocols to ensure life-saving health products and personal protective equipment (PPE) reach priority response zones without delay.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Responsibilities

  • Oversee receiving activities at Third-Party Logistics (3PL) facilities for all incoming emergency response products, ensuring proper material handling and precise, rapid system posting to protect inventory integrity.
  • Report on the status of inbounds and outbounds of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) to guarantee strict adherence to established emergency protocols by 3PLs.
  • Execute proper stock rotation protocols (First-Expiring, First-Out / FEFO) to mitigate product spoilage, protect temperature-sensitive emergency assets, and maintain pristine inventory tracking.
  • Participate actively in the preparation of HPTs for rapid emergency shipment, confirming that 3PLs complete accurate labeling, thermal shielding, and secure packaging.
  • Verify all physical HPTs loaded onto transit vehicles against tally sheets and delivery notes during truck dispatch to eliminate field transit discrepancies.
  • Rapidly assemble, pack, and label emergency distribution kits according to dispatch orders destined for high-risk zones, isolation units, or partner facilities.
  • Participate in routine physical stock counts, emergency cycle counts, and reconcile floor records against system balances to guarantee zero stock leakage.
  • Comply fully with all institutional safety regulations, occupational health standards, and emergency hazard protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Address complaints by conducting rapid, thorough investigations, implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and resolving issues both physically on the floor.

Required Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Diploma in a Business-related field, Diploma in Health Systems Management, or an Enrolled Diploma in Pharmacy.
  • Recognized training/certificates in Warehouse Management, CIPS, Stores Management, Health Commodities, or Hazardous Materials Handling
  • Minimum of 1 years’ hands-on experience with supply chain procedures, FEFO management, and rapid dispatch workflows.

Preferred Skills and competencies

  • Working knowledge of supply chain procedures, good distribution practices, and cold-chain management.
  • Clear communication, proactive problem solving, analytical mindset, cross-functional collaboration, and absolute professional integrity.
  • Proficiency in stock inspection, high-velocity alphanumeric data entry, and MS Office Suite proficiency (specifically MS Excel).
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-coordination skills.
  • Strong attention to batch tracking, expiration monitoring, and audit-ready record keeping.

Preferred Attributes

  • Ability to work independently under pressure and effectively manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Willingness to travel to response locations and work outside normal working hours when required.
