Wash & Nutrition Specialist Job IRES
Responsibilities or duties
- Lead the technical assessment of Stabilization Centers (SCs) in Ethiopia, including review of infrastructure, equipment support, and service delivery outcomes.
- Assess the effectiveness and impact of humanitarian WASH interventions including water supply, sanitation, hygiene promotion, and emergency response mechanisms.
- Evaluate nutrition programming interventions targeting PLW (Pregnant and Lactating Women), caregivers, and vulnerable populations.
- Support the development of nutrition and WASH evaluation indicators and survey tools.
- Conduct technical KIIs with Ministry of Health officials, SC staff, WASH officers, and humanitarian actors.
- Review treatment protocols for SAM/MAM and assess operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to nutrition and WASH case studies and technical analysis.
- Support triangulation of qualitative and quantitative findings.
- Contribute technical inputs to the final evaluation report and recommendations
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Master’s Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Water and Sanitation Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field.
- Strong technical advisory capabilities.
- Excellent analytical and assessment skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fragile and resource-constrained settings.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of humanitarian standards and emergency response frameworks.
- Fluency in English required.
Experience needed
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in humanitarian WASH and Nutrition programming and/or evaluations.
- Strong understanding of acute malnutrition management protocols, therapeutic feeding programmes, and emergency nutrition service delivery systems.
- Proven experience in emergency nutrition programming and WASH interventions.
- Familiarity with the humanitarian context in Somalia, Ethiopia, and the Horn of Africa.
- Experience working with NGOs, UN agencies, or humanitarian donors.
- Excellent analytical and technical report writing skills.
