Project Overview:

The B.A.L.L Project (Building Active Youth Leadership through Non-Formal Learning) is a European Union co-funded initiative aimed at empowering young people to become active leaders and agents of social change. The project seeks to document the voices and contributions of youth driving transformation in their communities.

About the Role:

We are seeking 10 Youth Research Assistants based in Nakuru and Kisumu to support data collection, facilitate interviews, and document the experiences of young people contributing to social change.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research, community engagement, and youth development. The contract will last for a maximum period of 3 months, which will include training in research design and fieldwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data from youth participants.
  • Facilitate interviews, focus group discussions, and community dialogues.
  • Document the voices, experiences, and stories of young people.
  • Transcribe and organize research data accurately.
  • Support the research team in data analysis and reporting.
  • Participate in training sessions on research design and fieldwork methodologies.
  • Ensure ethical research practices and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders and project partners.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the B.A.L.L Project.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Aged 18–35 years.
  • Passion for youth development and community impact.
  • Experience in research and data collection.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel within Nakuru and Kisumu as required.
  • Playmakers (trained by MIDRIFT/Manyatta) will receive priority consideration.
  • Female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Duration:

Maximum 3 months (including training and fieldwork).
