Our client is a well-established group of businesses involved in the manufacturing of packaging materials and operating several hardware outlets. They are seeking to hire a diligent and experienced Accountant to oversee financial management, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide accurate financial reporting to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Data Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
- Record all financial transactions, including income, expenses, and assets.
- Ensure proper documentation of financial documents, invoices, and receipts.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Generate and analyze reports including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide management with insights for decision-making.
- Manage billing, accounts receivable, and prepare final company accounts for statutory filing.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor and report on budget variances.
- Recommend cost-saving measures and financial optimization strategies.
Tax Compliance
- Prepare and submit tax returns in compliance with Kenyan laws.
- Ensure correct treatment of VAT, Withholding Tax, and other taxes.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed.
- Stay updated on tax regulation changes and ensure timely implementation.
Audit Support
- Prepare necessary financial documents for audits.
- Liaise with auditors to facilitate efficient audits.
- Address audit findings and implement improvements.
Financial Controls and Compliance
- Establish and monitor internal financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Generate vendor aging reports and reconcile vendor accounts monthly.
Cash and Receivables Management
- Oversee cash flow, disbursements, and petty cash.
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate cash balances.
- Follow up on outstanding invoices internally and externally.
- Ensure timely revenue collection per contractual terms.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA (K) certification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a lead role.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws and statutory requirements.
- Experience in audit processes and statutory deduction filings.
- Proven ability to prepare final accounts and handle regulatory filings.
