About ASNET
ASNET is the umbrella body of the agriculture sector in Kenya. It is also the agriculture sector board for KEPSA ASNET brings together value chain associations, corporates, MSMEs, development partners, and other stakeholders to coordinate sector efforts and lead policy advocacy.
ASNET’s core mandate is to coordinate agriculture sector actors in Kenya through structured mechanisms that strengthen policy advocacy and drive value chain development aimed at enhancing productivity, competitiveness, and investment across the agriculture sector.
The Network aspires to be the leading voice in advocacy for a competitive and enabling environment for the agriculture sector at county, national, regional, continental, and global levels. This is be achieved through strong partnerships with National and County Governments, development partners, and other stakeholders to catalyze the transformation of the sector—driving growth, inclusive wealth creation, and job opportunities.
Position Overview:
ASNET is seeking an experienced individual to spearhead sectoral Trade facilitation, Policy Analysis and Advocacy to facilitate ease of doing business and an enabling business environment on behalf of the ASNET membership.
Professional experience
- The candidate must possess strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Have the ability to engage with senior government officials and demonstrate knowledge of the constitutional mandates of both national and county governments particularly in the sectors of Agriculture and Trade.
- He/she must also be a team player and be able to work with minimal supervision with actors who have varied interests in the agriculture sector.
- Experience in the private sector is and added advantage. In your cover letter please describe your experience working as trade and policy analyst, specific policies you have worked on, and how you have creatively pursued bipartisan interest.

Duty station
The position is based in Nairobi and may attract occasional travel to the Counties.
Contract Duration:
This position is initially a one-year (12 months) contract that is renewable, subject to effective delivery and availability of funds.
- Timely policy analysis, spearheading all policy advocacy interventions and Public Private Dialogues while ensuring that this is done in consultation with the relevant BMOs and other ASNET members so affected by such policies.
- Work closely with BMOs and other ASNET members to facilitate trade at local, regional and global levels
- Together with ASNET members, Conduct Research on trade and analyse impacts, and share findings with the relevant stakeholders
- Coordinate with public sector agencies, BMOS and other partners and stakeholders to implement trade facilitation initiatives.
- Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to engage with senior government officials
- Knowledge of the constitutional mandates of both national and county governments particularly in the sectors of Agriculture and Trade
- Team player
- Ability to work with minimal supervision with actors who have varied interests in the agriculture sector
- University degree (Bachelor or Master level) in Agriculture economics, Agribusiness, Business Administration, Law with a bias towards agriculture or any other relevant qualification.
