JOB DETAILS:

Background

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries through NAVCDP is rolling out a business acceleration model in Bomet County. The Agri-preneur model will boost agricultural productivity, job creation and exports by transforming smallholder farming from subsistence to commercialization with a focus on youth and digital innovation. This program will equip individuals especially youth with correct skills to become agricultural agripreneurs who will become catalyst for change, bring innovative technologies.

Responsibilities

Recruitment for Agripreneurs

Resources and market connection to farmers. The agripreneurs will provide last mile extension services to farmers.

Qualifications

Holder of a post-secondary certificate in agriculture (agronomy, horticulture, livestock production/health, range management, agricultural economics, agribusiness management, agricultural engineering)

Holds a Kenyan National ID & should not be more than 45 years

Should be a resident in the ward and sub-location of AP application.

Should be digitally literate and in possession of a smartphone

Should be able to communicate fluently in English, Swahili & local dialect.

Experience

Experience in the field of agricultural development will be an added advantage.

Additional Notes

Participation in the farmer profiling exercise will be an added advantage.

Should be committed to be engaged on full-time basis

The County will ensure 30% of either gender in the recruitment process

Work Hours: 8

Experience in Months: 12

Level of Education: professional certificate
