Degree Holder preferred Or A/L Pass with NIPM Plantations Management Course (Advantage)
Strong Leadership Potential Excellent Command of English
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and effective team coordination skills.
Ability to Communicate in Sinhala & Tamil is an advantage
Trainee Planter Program - Agronomy & Crop Management
Role Summary: Focused on the scientific aspects of tea cultivation. This trainee works to improve soil health, manage pests/diseases, and optimize yields through research and adaptive agronomic practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Soil Management: Conduct soil sampling and analysis; implement fertilization schedules (NPK, organic matter) based on specific block requirements.
Pest & Disease Control: Monitor fields for common pests (e.g., mites, weevils) and diseases; coordinate the safe application of pesticides and biocontrol agents.
Pruning Cycles: Manage the pruning cycle (e.g., Lung pruning, ground-level skiffing) to rejuvenate bushes and maximize the plucking table.
New Plantings: Oversee nursery operations and the planting of new clones, ensuring genetic integrity and optimal spacing.
Data Collection: Maintain detailed records of rainfall, temperature, soil moisture, and crop growth patterns to guide strategic decisions.
