County Government of Kisumu invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated and pro- active individuals to fill vacancies in the following position:

Responsibilities or duties

This is an entry and training grade for degree holders. An officer at this level will be deployed at the Sub- County. Duties and responsibilities will entail:-

• Implementing Water and Sanitation plans, regulations and guidelines;
• Carrying out research activities including feasibility studies in water and sanitation;
• Planning and designing water supply and sewerage projects and infrastructure;
• Ensuring professional standards and undertaking quality control during construction of water supply and sewerage infrastructure;
• Supervising construction and maintenance of water, sanitation and sewerage works and related activities;
• Liaising with other institutions implementation projects related to water and sanitation within the County;
• Implementing projects and programs as per the County Integrated Development Plan and other county planning frameworks;
• Communicating Water and Sanitation information within the County;
• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual water and sanitation reports; and
• Supervising, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on programs and projects on water and sanitation sector;

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have;

• Kenyan Citizenship
• Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Water Supply Technology; Water Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
• Registration with Engineers Board of Kenya;
• Served in the grade of Superintendent Water for a minimum period of three (3) years
• Knowledge in designing software (AUTOCAD; Water CAD)
• Knowledge of relevant legislation
• Proficiency in Computer Applications,
• Knowledge of professional engineering standards

Served in the grade of Superintendent Water for a minimum period of three (3) years

The salary scale, allowances and other benefits attached to this position will be as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

Terms of Service Permanent and Pensionable

Salary Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 46,120–65,860 p.m.

House Allowance: Ksh 16,500–22,000/= per month

Commuter Allowance: Ksh 6,000/= per month

Leave Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service

Annual Leave: 30 working days

Medical Cover: As provided by the County Government of Kisumu

Those with foreign Degrees should have them authenticated by Commission for University Education (CUE). In addition, during the interview, they will be required to submit their academic certificates authenticated by the issuing Institutions to the Board.

Chapter 6 requirements will only be required from successful applicants.
