Background
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the United Nations agency mandated to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all and sustainable human settlements development. UN-Habitat works in over 90 countries and at the city level to realize this mandate.
Responsibilities
The Associate Programme Management Officer will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to:
- Assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of programme activities.
- Monitoring and evaluating programme progress, identifying challenges and proposing solutions.
- Contributing to the preparation of programme reports, proposals, and other documentation.
- Supporting the coordination of activities with national governments, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Conducting research and analysis on human settlements issues.
- Providing administrative and logistical support to the programme team.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
- An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in urban planning, development studies, social sciences, public administration, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, development cooperation, or a related area.
- Experience in the field of human settlements, urban development, or sustainable development is desirable.
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
