Background

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading environmental authority in the United Nations system. It sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the UN system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

Responsibilities

The Associate Programme Management Officer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of programme activities.
  • Monitoring and evaluating programme progress, identifying challenges and recommending solutions.
  • Supporting the preparation of programme reports, proposals, and other documentation.
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective programme delivery.
  • Providing administrative and logistical support for programme activities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, International Relations, Public Administration, or a related discipline. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, project coordination, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.

Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience is required.

Additional Notes

This is an individual contractor position. The contract duration will be for 12 months, with a possibility of extension.
