BOARD OF DIRECTORS

In accordance with the Water Act 2016, the Companies Act 2015, the Corporate Governance guidelines issued by Water Service Regulatory Board and all other applicable laws, the Appointing Authority as per the Makueni County Water Act, 2020 declares four (4) vacancies for the positions of Board of Directors for MBONIWASCO. The board of directors comprise of representatives of stakeholders identified in accordance with the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) Corporate Governance Guidelines, 2024. MBONIWASCO is a water service provider mandated to provide water and sanitation services within Mbooni Sub-county of Makueni County.

BOARD DIRECTORS OF THE MBOONI WATER AND SANITATION COMPANY LIMITED (MBONIWASCO)

1. Board Directors -4 posts

Terms of service: 3-year term renewable once subject to performance

Remunerative Allowances: As set out by WASREB

2. The board has vacancies for the following stakeholders:

One (1) Director representing residents' organizations.

One (1) Director representing local professionals nominated by professional bodies or any other key primary stakeholder that is equivalent value to the professional body.

One (1) Director representing the business/manufacturing community nominated by their registered bodies.

One (1) Director representing domestic consumers within the service area of the WSP.

Qualifications

Be a Kenyan citizen;

Be a holder of a minimum of a Bachelors from a university recognized in Kenya or its equivalent in any of the following fields: Accounting/Finance; Engineering; Human Resource; Law or Business systems/ Management systems or Any other professional field with relevant experience.

Must be a member in good standing with the relevant professional body;

Must have a minimum of seven (7) years working experience in the core profession of the person or have run a registered own enterprise for a minimum of seven (7) years;

Experience and training in Corporate Governance or water related sector will be an added advantage;

Must meet the Leadership and Integrity criteria under chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and meets fit and proper test criteria from WASREB;

Must be a resident of the area covered by Mbooni Water and Sanitation Company Limited (MBONWASCO);

Must not be a holder of any political office and

Must not be a State Officer:

Duties and responsibilities

The Board Directors shall:

Oversee the running and management of the Water Service Provider in accordance to provisions of the Act and other relevant laws;

Formulate policies and make rules for the day-to-day management of the Water Service Provider:

Ensure timely preparation and submission of reports to relevant stakeholders;

Oversee the Water Service Provider programs and projects;

Ensure prudent financial management practices in the company;

Ensure development and implementation of the company strategic plan and other relevant plans;

Facilitate Human Resource Management and Development;

Coordinate Stakeholder engagement and resource mobilization;

Advise the County Government on matters relating to water service provision in their area of operation and;

Undertake any other activity necessary for fulfilment of any of its functions as stipulated in the Water Act, 2016, WASREB Regulations, 2024 and the Water Services Regulations, 2025 and the Makueni County Water Services Regulations, 2021.

NOTE:
