Kenchic Limited is the leading producer of poultry in East and Central Africa. At its inception, the company’s main activity was the production of broiler and layer day-old chicks. Over the years the company has expanded operations to include processed chicken and further processed products. The company started its operations in 1984. The company’s Head Office is in Exsan House along Enterprise road. Kenchic is proud to be the largest integrated poultry operation in East and Central Africa and deals in day-old chicks, processed chicken meat and further processed products such as smoked sausages, choma sausages & sausages.

THE ROLE:

This is a role for someone who believes brands are built through stories, and who has the skills to tell them well. As the Brand Storyteller, you'll own how Kenchic shows up: across earned media, digital channels, internal communications, and every touchpoint in between.

You'll be the connect between our business and our audiences, translating what we do into narratives that resonate, build trust, and drive engagement.

You'll work directly with the Head of Marketing & Brand Managers and collaborate with our external agency partners.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

You'll own the brand's voice and presence across every channel, ensuring Kenchic communicates with consistency, clarity, and purpose. Specifically,

  • Lead our PR and earned media strategy- from media relations and press activity to corporate communications and MD messaging.
  • Set the direction for all digital and social content, briefing and holding agency partners accountable to brand standards and performance targets.
  • Own internal communications, ensuring our people are as connected to the brand as our consumers are.
  • Own the content calendar - setting priorities aligned to product launches, campaigns, and business moments.
  • Be the guardian of Kenchic's brand voice- across every channel, campaign, and conversation.
  • Lead how Kenchic tells its sustainability and ESG story - translating our purpose and commitments into communications that are honest, compelling. and built for the long term.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 3-5 years of active experience in PR, communications, and digital (FMCG or consumer brand experience is a strong plus). A degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing skills - you can write a press release, a caption, MD quote, and a social post, and each one sounds right for its format.
  • Solid understanding of East African media landscape and digital platforms.
  • Comfort working with Creative, Digital, and PR agencies: briefing, reviewing. providing feedback.
  • Strong organisational skills - you manage multiple workstreams without dropping the ball.
  • Experience with media monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, or social scheduling platforms.
