Job Summary

The role holder will be responsible for the achievement of sales targets by selling Marine insurance through intermediaries and direct clients; developing and managing these channels and developing and/or executing marketing actions to support business development as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the implementation of sales strategy for Marine insurance.
  • Identify and cross sell on existing intermediated, Direct and partner business opportunities, negotiate and close business deals within the company quality business guidelines to increase the market share.
  • Expand and maintain marine portal connectivity with partners for business growth.
  • Ensure credit control policy is adhered to in respect to business onboarded.
  • Provide accurate and competitive quotations for Marine product and ensure they are delivered promptly to intermediaries and prospective clients.
  • Identification and training of warehousing agents clearing agents, direct clients and brokers on HIK Marine product proposal.
  • Explore partnership network with logistic and shipping partners
  • Attend various imports and exports forum to refresh on the developments of the sector
  • Create and conduct proposal presentations and RFP responses and visits to potential customers for new business.
  • Build up detailed knowledge about the company’s products and keep abreast of market conditions and developments.
  • Proactively build long standing relationships with clients and intermediaries in defined territories and national market.
  • Monitor clients’ preferences to determine focus of sales efforts and areas of improvements.
  • Review of sales performance through preparation of timely, accurate, informative reports to management for decision making.
  • Conduct market research and intelligence for improved service delivery to clients.
  • Manage quality of Marine business, productivity and overall sales performance.
  • Drive achievement of the annual, quarterly and monthly production budget and recruitment targets.
  • Continuously liaise with ICT to ensure that the S&D module in PAS works in a robust and efficient way for delivery of the department’s objectives
  • Help manage existing clients and ensure they stay satisfied and positive by offering solutions and services that meet or predict the clients’ future needs to ensure business retention
  • Implement the Treat Customers Fairly (TCF) guidelines in Sales and Distribution.
  • Embrace governance requirements with respect to KYC/AML/Data protection requirements per governing Acts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Marketing, Economics, Actuarial or any other business- related discipline
  • Progress towards Diploma in Insurance (ACII or AIIK), (at least 5 papers or equivalent)

Experience

  • 6-8 years’ experience in sales and marketing or insurance

  • Customer, market and competitor understanding.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry and concepts
