Job Summary:

The Business Development Officer will support the growth of the medical insurance portfolio by assisting in client acquisition, servicing, and retention for Retail, IPMI & SME customers. Working under the guidance of the Business Development Manager, the role focuses on lead generation, client engagement, policy administration support, and relationship management while developing sales and insurance advisory capabilities.

The Role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the acquisition of new retail, IPMI and SME clients for medical insurance products.
  • Assist in marketing and selling individual, family, and group medical insurance plans.
  • Conduct preliminary client needs assessments and gather required documentation.
  • Prepare medical insurance quotations, proposals, and benefit schedules under supervision.
  • Educate clients on basic policy features, benefits, exclusions, and provider networks.
  • Assist in onboarding new clients and coordinating policy issuance.
  • Support policy renewals, endorsements, and client follow-ups.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, client data, and sales activities in CRM systems.
  • Assist in client servicing by responding to inquiries and coordinating with internal teams.
  • Liaise with underwriting, claims providers, and claims teams as required.
  • Conduct market research and identify potential leads and referral opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Added Advantage.

  • Professional insurance qualifications such as Diploma in Insurance, ACII/CII
  • Insurance Broking Industry Experience in Medical IPMI, Retail and SME's

Experience

3-5 years of experience in Business Development medical insurance (Retail SME & IPMI).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Customer Centric.
  • Teamwork and adaptability.
  • Sales Reporting.
