About the Role
The Judicial Service Commission invites applications for the position of Chairperson, Business Premises Rent Tribunal. This role is central to ensuring fair resolution of disputes between landlords and tenants in business premises.
Key Qualifications
- Eligible for appointment as a judge of the High Court
- Law degree from a recognized university, or advocate of the High Court of Kenya, or professionally qualified magistrate, or equivalent qualification in a common-law jurisdiction
- At least 10 years’ experience as a distinguished academic, legal practitioner, or in another relevant legal field
- Experience in alternative dispute resolution is an added advantage
- High moral character, integrity, and impartiality (Chapter Six compliance)
Core Competencies
- High degree of professional competence
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Good temperament and judgment
- Commitment to public and community service
Additional Notes
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
- Canvassing leads to automatic disqualification
- Successful candidates must provide clearance certificates from KRA, HELB, DCI, EACC, CRB, and relevant professional bodies
