Position Summary

CFK Africa believes the people closest to a problem are closest to its solution — and that includes who tells the story. The Communications and Media Manager owns CFK Africa’s external communications, brand, video, social media, and public relations, and leads the Youth Media Corps: a movement that mobilizes young journalists, content creators, and digital storytellers from slum communities to produce authentic, high-quality content that elevates youth talent and community insight. The Communications and Media Manager oversees the production of video profiles, podcasts, short films, advocacy media, and visual storytelling that advance youth empowerment, civic engagement, and youth-led development. By placing cameras, microphones, and editorial power in the hands of youth, the Youth Media Corps redefines who tells the stories in slums — and who shapes development priorities. This role is critical to the overall positioning, visibility and success of the Youth Development Network (YDN), which will place youth in employment, enhance public health, improve educational outcomes, and showcase that when talent meets opportunity, slum youth can break from survival mode to purpose driven pathways.

Accountabilities

The role carries accountability for external communications strategy and brand, media relations and public relations, digital and social media channels, the Youth Media Corps, resource-mobilization communications, team leadership, financial stewardship, safeguarding, and demonstrable reach and impact. The Communications and Media Manager works closely with the Executive Communications & Partnerships Manager — who leads internal communications, the partnership database, donor engagements, and key events — to ensure CFK Africa's story is told consistently inside and outside the organization.
