The role holder is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of the bank’s database infrastructure. This role encompasses the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of database systems, including storage, operating systems, and backup solutions. The position requires close collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to support business-critical applications and regulatory compliance.

Main Duties

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust database systems to meet performance, scalability, and availability targets.
  • Develop and enforce capacity management procedures to ensure databases operate within defined thresholds.
  • Monitor and manage database availability, service recovery, and incident resolution in line with SLAs and established policies.
  • Ensure database security through implementation of policies, controls, and infrastructure safeguards against data loss, corruption, and unauthorized access.
  • Plan, design, and execute database projects aligned with business requirements, ensuring timely delivery and optimal performance.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, operating procedures, and change records.
  • Research emerging technologies and provide strategic recommendations to enhance database architecture and performance.
  • Engage and manage relationships with third-party vendors to address database requirements, upgrades, and technical support.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align database strategies with organizational objectives and ensure seamless integration with business processes.

Minimum qualification and experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Certified Database, ITIL, OCA, OCP, OCM, or PostgreSQL certifications.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT with hands-on expertise in database administration or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in major database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience in the Banking industry is desirable
