Declaration Officer at Jonerics Cargo Forwarders Limited

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform customs entry registration and declaration using the iCMS system in accordance with KRA regulations.
• Accurately capture cargo details, tariff classification, customs values, and applicable duties and taxes.
• Ensure all declarations comply with customs laws, procedures, and internal company policies.
• Coordinate with operations, documentation, and transport teams to facilitate smooth cargo clearance.
• Liaise with relevant government agencies including KRA, KPA, KEBS, KEPHIS, NTSA, and other port stakeholders where required.
• Review shipping documents (Invoices, Packing Lists, BLS, COO, permits, etc.) for accuracy and completeness before declaration.
• Identify and promptly resolve declaration discrepancies or system issues.
• Maintain proper records and audit trails for all declarations processed.
• Escalate complex declaration issues to the Declaration Manager when necessary.
• Support compliance audits and internal reviews as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or Degree in Clearing & Forwarding or a related field.
• KRA/KESRA Certificate - Mandatory.
• Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience in customs declaration and entry registration.
• Proven experience working with the ICMS system (mandatory)
• Exposure to port and regulatory bodies (KPA, KEBS, KEPHIS, NTSA, etc.) is an added advantage.
