Background

Mandera County continued to register positive progress anchored on achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) despite challenges and the devastating effects of climate change, which saw prolonged dry spells followed by heavy rains and flooding.Floods displaced families, washed away crops and farming infrastructure and cut off roads. The resilience of our people was put to the test afresh.

Responsibilities

• Providing dental care including diagnosing common oral conditions
• Treating, prescribing and referring
• Carrying out minor oral and maxillofacial surgery, prosthetic and conservative dentistry
• Facilitating admission
• Disease investigation of patients
• Report writing and help in thearter activities
• Collecting information on dental health information system
• Organizing discharge summaries and follow –up of patients
• Acting as the first on call on duty
• Plan and manage county level health care programmes directed towards the improvement of health services.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor of Dental Surgery (DS) Degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioner and Dentist Board
• Be registered and in good standing with the Kenya Medical Practitioner and Dentist Board;
• Valid practicing Licence from Medical Practitioner and Dentist Board;
• Demonstrated a good understanding of the County Governments Mandate, Health Policies, as well as Vision 2030.
• Be proficient in computer skills.
• Have capacity to multitask within strict timeliness with minimum supervision.

Experience

At least two (2) years working experience as a Medical Officer

Shown outstanding administrative capability and professional competence required in managing livestock production services.

Additional Notes

Member of the Audit Committee shall be appointed for a term of three years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further one term only.

Remuneration: This is not a salaried position; Allowances applicable shall be determined by the salaries and remuneration commission.

A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a Chair or a member of Audit Committee if the persons: -

Is present or past employee of the County Government of Mandera.

Have served as an employee or an agent of a business organization which has carried out business with County Government of Mandera for the last two years

Level of Education: bachelor degree
