Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  • Be a Citizen of Kenya;
  • Served in the grade of Assistant Director, Community Development, for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Sociology, Public Administration or related field from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s degree in Community Development, Sociology, Public Administration, or related field from a recognized institution; and
  • Proven leadership and program management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all community development programs;
  • Formulate policies and guidelines to support community empowerment;
  • Supervise subordinate officers and ensure effective program delivery;
  • Mobilize resources and foster partnerships with development stakeholders;
  • Monitor implementation of social development projects and assess impact; and
  • Prepare departmental work plans, budgets, and performance reports.
