About the Role
The Deputy Principal supports the Principal in the overall leadership, management, and development of the school. The role focuses on maintaining high academic standards, promoting a positive school culture, supporting staff performance, and ensuring effective day-to-day operations in line with the school’s vision and Cambridge standards.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Support the implementation and delivery of the Cambridge curriculum across all key stages
- Support curriculum planning, assessment, and reporting
- Analyse academic data to inform improvement strategies
- Lead academic improvement initiatives as delegated by the Principal
Staff Management & Development
- Support supervision, mentoring, and appraisal of teaching and support staff
- Assist in staff induction and ongoing professional development
- Promote a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Student Welfare & Discipline
- Support student behaviour management and pastoral care systems
- Promote student wellbeing, safeguarding, and child protection policies
- Engage with parents regarding student progress, behaviour, and welfare
School Operations & Administration
- Assist in the daily running of the school to ensure smooth operations
- Step in for the Principal when required
- Support timetabling, examinations, school events, and activities
- Ensure compliance with school policies, health & safety, and regulatory requirements
Community & Parent Engagement
- Build positive relationships with parents, staff, and the wider school community
- Represent the school professionally at meetings and events
- Support admissions, open days, and school marketing activities
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s degree is an advantage)
- Teaching qualification recognised in Kenya
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, preferably in an international or Cambridge school
- Previous leadership or senior management experience is highly desirable
