Responsibilities or duties

The consultant will be expected to undertake the following tasks:

• Provide technical expertise and strategic advice on food systems transformation, sustainable agriculture, and related environmental issues.
• Support the development and implementation of projects and initiatives related to food systems and sustainable development.
• Conduct research, analysis, and synthesis of information on food systems, policy, and best practices.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and build partnerships with governments, civil society, private sector, and research institutions.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports, policy briefs, and other communication materials.
• Support the monitoring and evaluation of project activities and outcomes.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

• Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental science, sustainable development, agriculture, food systems, or a related field.
• Proven expertise in food systems analysis, sustainable agriculture, and environmental policy.
• Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.

Experience needed

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in development coordination, food systems, or environmental affairs.
• Experience working with international organizations or UN agencies is desirable.

This is a consultancy position. The duration of the contract will be for a period of 11 months. The consultant will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
