About the Role

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing the automated infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments that power the Group’s digital platforms. Working closely with Software Engineers, QA Engineers, and the Solution Architect, the role holder will execute continuous delivery, ensure operational excellence, and drive system reliability.

As a core member of Phase 2 of our tribe’s expansion, you will be instrumental in establishing the automation frameworks for our new Omnichannel Experience Layer and stabilizing deployments across our multi-stack environments.

Key Responsibilities

CI/CD Pipeline Automation & Tooling

  • Implement, maintain, and optimize robust continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to accelerate delivery cycles.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers to automate application builds, testing integrations, and code quality checks using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Support the tribe’s containerization strategy by managing and deploying containerized application workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Ensure proper version control, artifact repository management, and strict configuration governance across all development test objects and environments.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Cloud Engineering

  • Provision and manage secure cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS or GCP) utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles (e.g., Terraform or CloudFormation).
  • Execute infrastructure changes and environmental setups to support the transition from legacy frameworks to high-performance microservices environments.
  • Maintain and optimize configurations across various operating systems (Linux, Windows) to ensure smooth system integrations and fault tolerance.
  • Manage environment access controls, interfaces, and networking configurations required by project teams for seamless testing and releases.

DevSecOps & System Reliability

  • Integrate automated security vulnerability scanning, compliance monitoring, and code inspection tools (e.g., SonarQube) directly into delivery pipelines.
  • Monitor infrastructure and application performance, logs, and alerts to guarantee enterprise-grade fault tolerance, uptime, and quick resolution of system bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate closely with QA Engineers to support automated nightly build verification (“smoke”) tests and automated performance testing infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot configuration or environment-related production issues and proactively address technical debt in deployment setups.

Collaboration & Technical Governance

  • Serve as an infrastructure alignment point within the tribe, ensuring mutual understanding of deployment constraints between engineers, QA, and architects.
  • Provide technical guidance and clear documentation regarding environment setups and infrastructure best practices to engineering squad members.
  • Maintain a transparent deployment process that strictly adheres to change management governance, priorities, and business security policies.

Principal Outputs for this role

  • Reliable, secure, and scalable CI/CD pipelines implemented and maintained across digital platforms.
  • Automated infrastructure environments provisioned and managed using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards.
  • Containerized application deployments successfully supported through Docker and Kubernetes platforms.
  • Cloud infrastructure availability, performance, and cost optimization maintained within agreed service levels.
  • Security, compliance, and vulnerability scanning controls integrated into deployment pipelines.
  • Monitoring, alerting, logging, and incident management capabilities established and continuously improved.
  • Deployment governance standards, configuration management, and environment controls consistently adhered to.
  • Technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials developed and maintained.
  • Reduced deployment lead times, improved release quality, and enhanced platform reliability achieved through automation initiatives.
  • Timely resolution of infrastructure, deployment, and environment-related incidents and service requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Cloud (AWS/Azure DevOps) or Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD) is an added advantage
  • 5-6 years’ experience in system engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation, preferably within banking, fintech, or digital financial services.

Competencies

  • Containerization & Orchestration: Strong hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes management in enterprise environments.
  • CI/CD Proficiency: Practical experience managing deployment pipelines and tools (Jenkins, Git, SonarQube, JMeter, etc.).
  • Infrastructure as Code: Solid working knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent orchestration frameworks.
  • Cloud Platforms: Good understanding of cloud computing services, serverless computing, and hybrid cloud integration.
  • OS & Scripting: Strong Linux and Windows administration skills, with proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automation.
  • Database & Integrations: Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB) and API integration patterns.
