Background
County Government of Kisumu invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated and pro- active individuals to fill vacancies in the following position: Director Transport And Mechanical Services, Job Group 'R'
Duties And Responsibilities
- Directing activities related to dispatching, routing and tracking transportation vehicles and equipment Plant for optimum service;
- Directing the planning, organization and management of the staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with Department requirements and overall mission and vision of the County Government of Kisumu;
- Developing and ensuring implementation of policies and procedures and enforce implementation of schedule and policy change;
- Monitoring spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budget;
- Directing activities of staff performing repairs and maintenance to plant equipment, vehicle, and facilities;
- Conducting investigations in cooperation with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures within the County Government of Kisumu;
- Negotiating and authorizing contracts with equipment and materials suppliers, and monitor contract fulfillment;
- Ensuring fleet availability to meet all requests by scheduling, forecasting and surveying current user trend;
- Overseeing routine and ad hoc maintenance, and ensure schedule fleet management.
Requirements For Appointments
- Be a Kenyan Citizen;
- Cumulative service period of ten (10) relevant years' work experience, three (3) of which should have been at senior management;
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Been registered by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
- Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Proficiency in computer application; and
- Demonstrated a high degree of professional and managerial ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Additional Notes
Those with foreign Degrees should have them authenticated by Commission for University Education (CUE). In addition, during the interview, they will be required to submit their academic certificates authenticated by the issuing institutions.
