JOB PURPOSE:

This individual will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation of event equipment, materials, staff, and supplies to and from event venues, warehouses, suppliers, and other locations.

The Driver will be responsible for ensuring that company’s vehicles, equipment, and loads are handled safely and professionally while supporting the successful and timely delivery of events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Driving & Transportation: -

  • Drive company trucks and/or vans safely and responsibly as assigned.
  • Transport event equipment, furniture, décor, supplies, staff, and other materials to and from event sites.
  • Ensure timely collection and delivery of equipment and materials according to event schedules.
  • Plan routes and allow sufficient time for traffic, loading, unloading, and other delays.
  • Comply with all applicable traffic laws, road safety requirements, and company driving procedures.
  • Maintain professional conduct when representing the company on the road and at client or event sites.

Event Logistics Support: -

  • Support the Operations Team with loading, transportation, offloading, and movement of event equipment and materials.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown where required.
  • Coordinate with event teams to ensure the correct equipment and supplies are delivered to the correct location.
  • Confirm deliveries and collections and report any shortages, damages, delays, or other issues promptly.
  • Assist with movement of equipment between the company's stores, office, suppliers, and event venues.

Vehicle Care & Maintenance: -

  • Take responsibility for the proper care, cleanliness, and security of assigned company vehicles.
  • Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Report mechanical faults, damage, tyre issues, or other vehicle concerns immediately.
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced and maintained according to the required schedules.
  • Keep vehicles clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
  • Ensure vehicle documents, insurance, inspection, and other required documentation are valid and available.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle mileage, fuel, service, and trip records.

Equipment & Load Management: -

  • Ensure all loads are properly arranged, secured, and protected during transportation.
  • Check equipment and materials against delivery or collection lists before leaving the premises.
  • Exercise care when handling company equipment and report any damage or loss.
  • Assist with safe loading and unloading of equipment where required.
  • Ensure all equipment and materials are accounted for after collection and return.

Event Site & Client Interaction: -

  • Maintain professional conduct when interacting with clients, venues, suppliers, and members of the public.
  • Follow instructions from the Operations Team regarding event deliveries, collections, and site movements.
  • Support the event team in maintaining a professional and efficient operation at event sites.
  • Protect the company's reputation through reliable, courteous, and responsible service.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle(s) assigned.
  • Relevant professional driving certification where required.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of driving experience, preferably including commercial vehicles, vans, or trucks.
  • Experience in logistics, events, deliveries, or transport operations is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of local roads and routes.
  • Clean and responsible driving record.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Safe and defensive driving skills.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle operation and basic vehicle checks.
  • Good time management and route-planning skills.
  • Ability to handle and secure loads safely.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Good communication and teamwork.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight event schedules.
  • Good customer service and professional interpersonal skills.
