Background

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is a global research institute with a mandate to improve the livelihoods of livestock keepers and to enhance the contribution of livestock to food security and poverty alleviation in developing countries. ILRI is a member of the CGIAR Consortium.

Responsibilities

The Drivers Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and coordinating the activities of drivers to ensure efficient and safe transportation of staff, visitors, and goods.
  • Developing and implementing driver schedules and routes.
  • Ensuring that all vehicles are well-maintained, serviced regularly, and in good working condition.
  • Monitoring fuel consumption and ensuring cost-effective use of vehicles.
  • Maintaining accurate records of vehicle usage, mileage, maintenance, and fuel.
  • Ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Providing guidance and training to drivers on safe driving practices and customer service.
  • Handling any issues or emergencies that may arise during transportation.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driving license with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role, preferably in transportation or logistics.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications.

Additional Information

This is a full-time position based at ILRI's Nairobi campus.
