About the Role

KEDA Kenya Ceramics is seeking an experienced EAC Import & Export Supervisor to oversee and manage cross-border customs clearance and transit operations across the East African Community region. The role requires strong technical expertise in import and export compliance, border operations, transit logistics, and regulatory coordination across multiple corridors and transport modes.

Key Responsibilities

EAC Export Control & Operations

  • Supervise all cross-border export and transit clearance from Kenya to Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo via road, lake, and sea transport.
  • Prepare, review, and validate all export and transit clearance documentation including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, and Certificates of Origin.
  • Issue Export Delivery Notes and coordinate preparation and submission of EXIT and Movement C2 declarations in collaboration with the Planning team.
  • Track customs entry registration, loading progress, border arrival, and customs release status.
  • Coordinate with ICDs, border customs, transport teams, and clearing agents to resolve all clearance and transit exceptions.
  • Analyze transit lead times and manage exceptions to ensure regulatory compliance and on-time border clearance.
  • Prepare and follow up on KRA applications and approval letters for temporary import and export cargo.
  • Apply for and follow up on customs seal exemption approvals for open-body trucks used in transit operations.
  • Manage KRA Certificate of Origin system activities, including raw material and finished goods registration, origin determination approvals, and coordination of KRA factory inspections.
  • Conduct EAC import and export project studies, cost inquiries, and preparation of customs clearance solutions and reports.
  • Compile and verify all export transit clearance files, ensure customs endorsement, and submit documentation to Finance for audit and archiving.
  • Verify and process supplier invoices and payments related to EAC export and transit operations.
  • Prepare consolidated operational and performance reports for all EAC import and export transit activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in EAC import and export customs clearance and cross-border transit operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of import and export clearance procedures along the Tanzania–Kenya, Kenya–Uganda, and Zambia–Tanzania corridors, with strong expertise in coal import clearance.
  • Proven experience handling Kisumu lake transport exports to Uganda, including full customs and border clearance processes.
  • Strong operational familiarity with Namanga, Busia, and Mutukula border posts, with established working relationships with officers from KRA, KEBS, TRA, URA, and KEPHIS.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve border clearance exceptions, including EXIT Notes, Movement C2 delays, customs entry issues, inspections, and valuation disputes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with preference given to candidates experienced in the OA system.
