Key Purpose:
We are seeking a highly skilled Employee, Industrial relations & Governance specialist to support the organization in managing employee relations matters, industrial relations strategy, and compliance with Kenyan labour laws. The role will provide expert advice to management on employee relations, engage with trade unions, and ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant people practices across the business.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Their key responsibilities entail but are not limited to:
- Provide day-to-day advisory and implementation support on Human resources compliance matters involving disciplinary matters, grievances, and performance management.
- Support the resolution of complex employee disputes and maintain positive workplace relations.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and disciplinary standards.
- Support engagement with recognized trade unions, including negotiations, consultations, and day-to-day interactions.
- Participate in Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations, interpretation, and implementation.
- Monitor industrial relations trends and advise management on risk mitigation and proactive engagement strategies.
- Support dispute resolution processes, including conciliation, mediation, and representation at the Labour Office and Employment and Labour Relations Court (ELRC).
- Ensure organizational compliance with Kenyan labour legislation, including the Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, and related regulations.
- Support labour audits, statutory inspections, and regulatory engagements.
- Maintain accurate case documentation, records, and reports for employee relations and industrial relations matters.
- Build people management capability by training line managers on employee relations, disciplinary processes, and labour law fundamentals.
- Support roll-out of HR policies, codes of conduct, and workplace standards.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Human Resource Management or Labour Relations is an added advantage.
Experience
- At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in Employee Relations or Industrial Relations within a unionised environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Kenyan employment and labour laws.
- Proven experience handling disciplinary cases, grievances, union engagements, and CBA matters.
- Experience appearing before the Labour Office or ELRC is an added advantage.
Skill
- Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
