Background
Healthcare for Generations (HFG) is a local NGO that works closely with communities, implementing partners, the Government of Kenya, and public–private stakeholders at both county and national levels. Our mission is to inspire and empower Kenyan youth to lead healthy and productive lives through evidence-informed interventions and partnerships.
HFG has been subcontracted by the Kenya Red Cross Society to implement the Global Fund project in Nakuru, Kericho, Narok, and Bomet Counties. The project aims to scale up the identification, linkage, retention, and adherence of children, adults, and other vulnerable populations living with HIV.
Role Summary
The Field Officer will support service delivery by providing high-quality technical assistance, building the capacity of Ministry of Health (MOH) staff, and improving the delivery of PMTCT and HIV Care and Treatment services in line with the 95–95–95 strategy.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of a Diploma in Social Sciences, Social Work, Education, Public Health, or a related field.
- Experience working with the Ministry of Health and county structures.
- Practical knowledge and experience in HIV & AIDS programs.
- Good leadership, counselling, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
- Capability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Team-oriented, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively.
- Familiarity with the Kenyan/Counties health system, HIV community programs, facility-based care and treatment, and program documentation.
- Proven facilitation and mentoring skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Support project activities at community level, including health education, treatment adherence, and targeted interventions.
- Work with County/Sub-County teams and designated health facilities to support PLHIV programming and strengthen integration to achieve the 95–95–95 HIV cascade.
- Coordinate the implementation of activity work plans, including reporting and accountability of project activities.
- Lead HIV defaulter tracking and promote retention in care and treatment at both facility and community levels.
- Promote meaningful involvement of PLHIV in designing, implementing, and improving HIV prevention, care, and treatment activities through PLHIV advisory groups and peer educators.
- Strengthen networking and collaboration among PLHIV representatives, healthcare workers, and the Ministry of Health.
- Liaise with community-based organizations, local leaders, government officials, and project beneficiaries to ensure coordinated and effective implementation.
- Collect and verify program data, support data analysis, and participate in the development and use of monitoring tools and reporting frameworks.
- Contribute to the preparation of quarterly, annual, and other program reports using data from field sites.
- Identify field-level challenges and implementation bottlenecks and work with program managers to find timely and effective solutions.
