Background
At TakaTaka Solutions, We collect your waste like every other waste collector, but, instead of taking it to a landfill, we take it to our own sites, where we sort the waste, and then recycle 95% either ourselves or through our local partners. This represents one of the highest recycling rates in the world.
Role Purpose
The Field Officer – Sourcing is responsible for identifying, sourcing, and purchasing quality recyclable materials at designated buyback centers. The role ensures consistent supply to support operational readiness while maintaining strong supplier (waste picker) relationships and market competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Achieve monthly sourcing targets in both quantity and quality of recyclable materials.
- Identify and onboard new waste pickers and suppliers.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships through regular engagement (e.g., weekly check-ins).
- Oversee purchasing activities at assigned buyback centers in line with quality SOPs.
- Develop and manage delivery schedules for aggregators.
- Waste Picker Relations & Grievance Handling
- Address and resolve waste picker grievances promptly.
- Maintain and update grievance trackers and escalate issues tmanagement as required.
- Ensure timely issuance of documentation (e.g., D-notes).
- Reporting & Coordination
- Track and update daily expected deliveries in coordination with operations teams.
- Maintain accurate delivery and sourcing target trackers.
- Provide timely reports on sourcing performance and supplier activities.
- Participate in weekly operational meetings with the Buyback Centre Manager.
- Market Research & Business Intelligence
- Conduct continuous market research on recyclable materials, pricing trends, and suppliers.
- Generate insights timprove sourcing strategies and cost efficiency.
- Identify new opportunities, materials, and sourcing models tenhance quality and profitability.
- Supervision & Team Leadership
- Conduct daily briefings with Assistant Field Officers.
- Supervise field teams tensure tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.
- Provide guidance, support, and performance oversight tjunior staff.
- Cost Management & Innovation
- Develop and manage sourcing budgets.
- Proactively identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Propose innovative sourcing models timprove material quality and operational efficiency
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Diploma in Business Management or related field.
Experience
- Prior experience in waste recycling or related industry is required.
Business Understanding
Strong understanding of:
- Different types of recyclable materials
- Recycling market dynamics
- Sales and sourcing strategies
Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and marketing skills
- Excellent grievance handling and interpersonal skills
- Leadership and team supervision ability
- Analytical and market research capability
- Good reporting and organizational skills
