Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a NGIS Warehouse Specialist to support unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Job Summary
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating earth moving equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Principal Accountabilities
- Operate earth moving equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life; equipment may include, but is not limited to: motor grader, frontend loader, backhoe, excavator, vibratory roller, water truck, ditch witch trencher, or bobcat skidsteer/tracksteer
- Inspect, clean, and perform operator level maintenance on equipment in accordance with standards
- Interact with the customer for movement of materials and equipment
- Perform daily safety checks to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition
- Follow related safety regulations, contract requirements, company policies, and operating procedures
- Ensure equipment is properly utilized, maintained, and stored
- Complete necessary documentation, reporting, and limited office duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of equipment safety, maintenance, and storage
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability understand equipment load charts and coordinate earth movement to standard of project
- Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment
Experience & Education
- Three (3) years’ of experience operating earth moving equipment
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Equipment operator training and certificate from National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) or verifiable military or civilian equipment operator training from construction field preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
- Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, and work safely around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handled
- Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
