HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR
Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor
Department: Support Services
Reports To: Facilities Manager / Hospital Administrator
Job Purpose
To supervise housekeeping operations and ensure that all hospital areas are maintained in a clean, safe, hygienic, and patient-friendly environment in compliance with Ministry of Health infection prevention and control guidelines and hospital standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily housekeeping operations across inpatient, outpatient, theatre, ICU, laboratories, offices, and public areas.
- Prepare staff duty rosters and allocate work assignments.
- Inspect patient care areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with infection prevention standards.
- Monitor cleaning schedules and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate housekeeping staff.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and inventory control of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
- Coordinate deep cleaning, fumigation, and terminal cleaning activities where required.
- Report maintenance issues and coordinate corrective actions with the maintenance department.
- Ensure waste segregation and disposal comply with healthcare waste management regulations.
- Investigate and resolve housekeeping-related complaints promptly.
- Maintain housekeeping records, inspection reports, and inventory documentation.
- Promote occupational health and safety practices among housekeeping staff.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Hospitality Management, Environmental Health, Housekeeping Management, or a related field.
- Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control is an added advantage.
- Relevant housekeeping experience in a hospital or healthcare facility, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of healthcare cleaning standards and infection prevention practices.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
