Position Overview

Our client, a fast-growing agribusiness company specializing in commercial beekeeping, honey production and processing, herbs production, value addition, and distribution, is seeking to recruit a competent Human Resource Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and managing the organization's human resource function, supporting recruitment, employee relations, policy implementation, performance management, staff welfare, statutory compliance, and fostering a fair, inclusive, and productive work environment across its operations.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Coordinate recruitment, selection, onboarding, induction and deployment of employees.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, contracts and personnel files.
  • Implement HR policies, procedures and employment practices.
  • Manage employee relations, grievances, workplace concerns and disciplinary processes fairly and professionally.
  • Promote equality, teamwork, diversity and inclusion across all operational locations.
  • Monitor workplace relationships and advise management on emerging employee-relations risks.
  • Coordinate probation reviews, performance planning and employee appraisals.
  • Support payroll preparation by verifying attendance, leave, overtime, allowances and employee changes.
  • Administer annual leave, sick leave, compassionate leave and other authorised absences.
  • Ensure compliance with Kenyan employment laws, occupational safety requirements and internal policies.
  • Support workforce planning and the development of job descriptions and staffing structures.
  • Identify employee training and development needs and coordinate relevant programmes.
  • Assist supervisors in applying company policies and managing employees consistently.
  • Prepare regular HR reports covering staffing, attendance, turnover, grievances, recruitment and performance.
  • Support employee welfare, engagement and workplace communication initiatives.
  • Perform any other HR and administrative duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least three years’ relevant experience in a generalist human resource role.
  • Knowledge of the Employment Act, 2007 and other applicable Kenyan labour laws.
  • Membership in the Institute of Human Resource Management.
  • Professional HR certification such as CHRP-K will be an added advantage.
  • Experience supporting field-based, Agricultural, Manufacturing or Geographically dispersed employees will be an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of payroll administration, performance management and employee record management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HR information systems.

  • Demonstrated impartiality and ability to handle sensitive workplace concerns.
