Executive Overview
Our client, a prominent and rapidly growing organization within the manufacturing sector, is seeking to appoint an accomplished and visionary Human Resources Director to provide strategic leadership of the company’s people and culture agenda across the East Africa region.
This executive role will be responsible for shaping and executing a forward-looking regional human capital strategy that supports organizational growth, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team and will lead initiatives that strengthen organizational capability, talent development, and workforce transformation across multiple markets.
The position demands a highly experienced HR leader with deep expertise in strategic HR leadership, organizational development, and workforce governance, ideally within a large-scale manufacturing or industrial environment.
Key Executive Responsibilities
Strategic Human Capital Leadership
- Lead the formulation and execution of a regional human capital strategy aligned with the organization’s long-term business objectives and expansion plans across East Africa.
- Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive leadership team on matters relating to organizational capability, leadership development, and workforce transformation.
- Champion a high-performance culture that promotes innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.
Organizational Development & Transformation
- Design and implement organizational development frameworks that enhance leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, and institutional capability.
- Lead enterprise-wide initiatives focused on change management, cultural transformation, and leadership succession planning.
- Drive the development of a future-ready workforce capable of supporting business growth and regional expansion.
Talent Strategy & Leadership Development
- Provide executive oversight of talent acquisition, leadership development, and succession planning across the organization.
- Establish best-in-class programs for executive talent identification, retention, and leadership pipeline development.
- Ensure the organization attracts and retains high-caliber professionals across all business units and regional operations.
Governance, Compliance & Employee Relations
- Provide leadership in ensuring full compliance with labor legislation and regulatory frameworks across all East African markets.
- Develop and maintain robust HR governance frameworks that safeguard organizational integrity and operational efficiency.
- Oversee complex employee relations matters and foster a workplace culture grounded in fairness, professionalism, and mutual respect.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
- Provide strategic oversight of executive compensation, benefits structures, and reward frameworks to ensure competitiveness within the market.
- Lead the modernization of HR systems, policies, and operational frameworks that support scalable growth and organizational efficiency.
- Utilize HR analytics and data insights to inform executive decision-making.
Regional Leadership
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for human resource operations across the East African region, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with corporate strategy.
- Collaborate closely with regional leadership teams to address workforce priorities and support operational performance.
Executive Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive HR leadership experience, ideally within the manufacturing or industrial sector.
- Must be a Certified Human Resource Practitioner (IHRM, CHRP, or an equivalent internationally recognized certification).
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic HR leadership across multi-country operations within the East African region.
- Deep understanding of regional labor laws, workforce governance, and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
