Amentum is seeking a Human Resources Employee Relations Specialist to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.
The Human Resources Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to employees, managers, and leadership within a dynamic, international workforce environment. This position is responsible for supporting personnel actions, employee relations, onboarding, HR compliance, training coordination, reporting, and HR process improvement initiatives.

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
- Provide technical and administrative support for employee lifecycle processes, including: New hire actions, Transfers, Promotions, Terminations, Demobilizations
- Process and maintain personnel action forms and employee records within the HR Information System (HRIS).
- Ensure employee data is accurate, complete, and updated in a timely manner.
- Create, organize, and maintain personnel files in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and audit standards.
- Support HR documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive employee information.
- Provide guidance regarding company procedures, workplace expectations, and conflict resolution processes.
- Assist with employee relations investigations by: Gathering information, Documenting findings, Maintaining investigation records, Supporting follow-up actions
- Promote a positive workplace culture focused on respect, teamwork, and professionalism.
- Support workforce planning activities and organizational staffing needs.
- Maintain knowledge of HR policies and communicate requirements clearly to an international workforce.
- Schedule and coordinate employee training programs.
- Develop and monitor HR metrics.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials for employee programs and initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, workflows, and operational efficiency.
- Support implantation of HR process improvements in coordination with leadership and stakeholders.
- Assist with special projects and other HR initiatives assigned by the HR manager or leadership team.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with HR Information Systems (HRIS) data entry systems and tools.
- Proficiency with everyday tools (email, data retrieval, voicemail, and internet/intranet platforms).
- Strong English proficiency for effective written and verbal communication as required for employee relations, reporting, and adherence to safety, health, and security protocols.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive personnel and company information.
- Ability to monitor and ensure consistent compliance with company and governmental policies regarding HR practices.
- Ability to successfully meet contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Associate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
- At least two (2) years of experience in at least two or more HR functions (e.g., staffing, performance management, employee relations, benefits, onboarding, compliance, training, or payroll).
- Two (2) years of administrative experience, including document control and record-keeping.
- One (1) year of experience working with a multi-national workforce with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and rapidly changing priorities.
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service and to address employee needs effectively.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong critical thinking, report development, and problem-solving skills with proven attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive personnel and company information.
- Ability to monitor and ensure consistent compliance with company and governmental policies regarding HR practices.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully meet contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a diverse workforce is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle
- Country visa (as required in line with U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
- SHRM or HRCI certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).
- Previous experience in government or military contracting environments, specifically in HR/ER roles.
- Solid understanding of labor laws and HR processes in multiple countries or military-regulated environments.
