Background

This ToR defines the internship position for a female Electrical Engineering student or graduate to join SUN ARATINGA in Mogadishu. The company specializes in solar energy solutions, including solar powered borehole systems, installation, maintenance and related technical services. The intern will report to the head of Electrical Engineering section and will support both field and office-based activities.

Key Responsibilities

The Intern will:

  • Provide structured, hands-on learning while contributing to ongoing project implementation.
  • Assist in solar system design and technical documentation, support installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of solar systems.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, BOQs, drawings and other project documentation as well as data entry, filing and record management.
  • Support project coordination tasks including tracking work plans and monitoring implementation progress.
  • Assist in procurement documentation, logistics coordination and basic inventory tracking of solar equipment and spare parts.
  • Support basic administrative and financial tasks including preparing simple expense records, assisting with payment documentation and maintaining project files.

Qualifications, Duration & Benefits

The candidate should be a female Electrical Engineering student (preferably recent graduate) or final year with a strong interest in renewable energy and solar technologies with basic knowledge of electrical systems and solar PV fundamentals. Strong English communication and computer skills are required while office administration and basic finance/bookkeeping skills are an added advantage.

The intern must demonstrate willingness to learn, teamwork, professionalism, and discipline with incentive and transport provided by the company.

The internship will last 6 months, renewable based on performance and organizational needs, and will provide practical exposure to solar PV systems, borehole pumping systems, field engineering, project management, reporting and operational support in renewable energy projects.
