Intern - Programme, Kakuma
The intern will assist in the delivery of core humanitarian services including General Food Distributions (GFD), Cash-Based Transfers (CBT), and Home-Grown School Feeding while actively contributing to the "Changing Lives Project." By anchoring their work in sector-based frameworks, they will help facilitate the shift from humanitarian dependency toward a development nexus, ensuring that food assistance reaches the most vulnerable while fostering long-term economic resilience for both refugees and host communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of livelihood activities in Kakuma and Kalobeyei refugee camp.
- Supports the area-based programme activities in Turkana County.
- Monitor project sites and consolidate field reports.
- Support project participant mapping and targeting.
- Conduct physical verification and keep inventory of WFP self-reliance assets.
- Coordinate key stakeholders’ meetings and prepare minutes.
- Contribute innovative ideas to enhance efficiency and delivery of programmes.
- Support in developing training content
- Participate in community engagement activities with project stakeholders to promote ownership.
- Contribute to strengthening private sector engagements on key value chains.
Expected Outcomes:
- Gain exposure to humanitarian and development nexus programming in protracted refugee situations.
- Strengthen skills in partnership management and coordination of stakeholders.
The Intern will be deployed in the programme unit reporting directly to the head of programme.
Qualifications Required:
- Education: A recent graduate (within the last 6 months) with a bachelor's in international relations, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Nutrition, Economics, Statistics or another related field.
- Language: Fluency in Oral and written English and local language
- Computer literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
