Inventory Accountant

Track and record inventory movements, including purchases and sales. Perform monthly inventory controls and physical counts. Reconcile inventory discrepancies and variances. Analyze inventory costs, turnover, and aging. Assist with financial audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Support the month-end closing process and provide data for gross margin calculations. Develop and implement inventory control procedures. Make recommendations to improve inventory processes and minimize losses.
Analytical and Problem-Solving: Ability to interpret financial data, identify root causes of discrepancies, and provide actionable insights. Organizational: Excellent planning, time management, and multitasking abilities. Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy is critical for financial and inventory records. Communication: Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with various stakeholders. Technical Proficiency: Expertise in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel. Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is standard. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in inventory accounting or management. Experience in a specific industry like manufacturing or retail can be beneficial. Certifications: A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is often a plus or a requirement, notes Web Scribble. Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, such as GAAP and IFRS. Software: Proficiency with accounting and inventory management systems, and advanced skills in tools like Excel.
