Job Purpose
To support the company in ensuring compliance with water quality standards through laboratory testing, sampling, analysis, and reporting. The Laboratory Technologist will conduct physical, chemical, and bacteriological tests to ensure water supplied to consumers meets KEBS and WHO guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct routine water sampling, field testing, and laboratory analysis.
- Perform physical, chemical, and microbiological tests on water and wastewater.
- Record, analyze, and interpret laboratory results and prepare reports.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables.
- Ensure proper calibration of laboratory instruments.
- Maintain accurate laboratory logs and quality assurance documentation.
- Assist in developing and implementing water quality monitoring programs.
- Ensure compliance with KEBS, NEMA, and WASREB water quality guidelines.
- Safely handle laboratory waste and maintain good laboratory hygiene.
- Participate in internal and external water quality audits.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or related field.
- At least 2 years' experience in a water quality laboratory (preferably in a WSP accredited lab).
- Experience in ISO accredited laboratory procedures is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of KEBS and WHO water quality standards.
- Computer literacy (MS Office, data entry, lab software).

- Strong analytical and laboratory skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High integrity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Good communication and report writing skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures in laboratory environments
